Mihaela Sirbu worked as an actress in Romania, Switzerland and Germany. She also works as an acting teacher at the Drama Department of the National University for Theater and Film and taught acting in Germany, at the Athanor Akademie.

In 1996 she founded the independent theatre group Teatrul fara Frontiere, for which she acts as a manager and director.

Her theater credits include classical and contemporary plays starting with 1994 – she is especially known for her interpretations of Neil LaBute’s characters at Teatrul Act. Her film credits include numerous short films, the feature film The Phantom Father, that marks her debut as a lead, and Radu Jude’s feature Everybody in Our Family. In 1999 she also performed in the ZDF movie Making Off by Igor Bauersima.
