By 2007 Bogdan Mirica had a successfully published novel and was an accomplished advertising man. That’s when his burning interest in cinema led him to study screenwriting at the University of Westminster, London.
Working as a screenwriter for other directors frustrated him so much that in 2011 Bogdan wrote and directed his first short film, BORA BORA. The film went on to win the Best European Short Film in Premiers Plans (Angers, France), the Best Romanian Short at the Transylvania IFF and was selected by many festivals, including Locarno, Warsaw and Thessaloniki, among others.
He was commissioned by HBO Europe to write and co-direct UMBRE (Shadows), a TV series dealing with the Romanian underworld.
DOGS, Bogdan’s debut feature, is a highly personal project which stems from real events that he witnessed as a child living in rural Romania.
